Day 1 “Prayer, the Channel of All Blessings”

“And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." Matthew 21:22, KJV.

Prayer is the breath of the soul, the channel of all blessings. As, with a realization of the needs of humanity, with a feeling of self- loathing, the repentant soul offers its prayer, God sees its struggles, watches its conflicts, and marks its sincerity.

Day 2 “Pray In the Morning”

“My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up." Psalm 5:3, KJV.

The very first outbreathing of the soul in the morning should be for the presence of Jesus. “Without Me,” He says, “ye can do nothing.” It is Jesus that we need; His light, His life, His spirit, must be ours continually.

Day 3 “Pray in Jesus’ Name”

“My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." 1 John 2:1, NKJV.

We have an advocate at the throne of God, which is encircled by the bow of promise, and we are invited to present our petitions in the name of Christ before the Father. Jesus says: Ask what ye will in My name, and it shall be done unto you.

Day 4 “An Open Door to God’s Throne”

“Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it." Revelation 3:8, KJV.

The true Witness declares: “Behold, I have set before thee an open door.” Let us thank God with heart and soul and voice; and let us learn to approach unto Him as through an open door, believing that we may come freely with our petitions, and that He will hear and answer.

Day 5 “Things Wrought By Prayer”

“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith." Hebrews 10:22, KJV.

There can be no true prayer without true faith. “Without faith it is impossible to please him” (Hebrews 11:6). Prayer and faith are the arms by which the soul hangs upon the neck of infinite love, and grasps the hand of infinite power.

Day 6 “Our Prayers Will Be Answered”

“For then you will have your delight in the Almighty, and lift up your face to God. You will make your prayer to Him, He will hear you, and you will pay your vows." Job 22:26, 27, NKJV..

In his prayer for His disciples Christ said: “I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word.”

Day 7 “Blessings for Those Who Ask”

“Ye have not, because ye ask not." James 4:2, KJV.

The grace of Christ we cannot do without. We must have help from above if we resist the manifold temptations of Satan, and escape his devices. Amid the prevailing darkness, we must have light from God to reveal the traps and gins of error, or we shall be ensnared.

Day 8 “Have You Asked?”

“The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord." Lamentations 3:25, 26, KJV.

The Lord would have us ask that we may receive. There are the heavenly messengers waiting for the sincere petition and they draw nigh to the hungry, thirsting soul. Then let your whole souls go out after God. Wait on the Lord.

Day 9 “Not Only Pray, but Ask and Work!”

“Then the king said to me, “What do you request?” So I prayed to the God of heaven. And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, ... I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs, that I may rebuild it." Nehemiah 2:4, 5, NKJV

While Nehemiah implored the help of God, he did not fold his own hands, feeling that he had no more care or responsibility in the bringing about of his purpose to restore Jerusalem.

Day 10 “Learn How to Pray”

“Lord, teach us to pray." Luke 11:1, KJV.

Christ did not give this prayer [the Lord’s Prayer, Luke 11:2-4] for men to repeat as a form. He gave it as an illustration of what our prayers should be—simple, earnest, and comprehensive.

Day 11 “Persevering Prayer”

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." 1 Peter 5:8, KJV.

We have a cunning devil to work against! Christ alone is mighty and fully able to match his power, therefore we must have Jesus with us every moment.

Day 12 “Pray in Submission to God’s Will”

“Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man." Luke 21:36, NKJV.

Pray often to your heavenly Father. The oftener you engage in prayer, the closer your soul will be drawn into a sacred nearness to God.

Day 13 “Seek God with All the Heart”

“Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee." Zechariah 9:12, KJV.

We need to educate the soul to lay hold, and hold fast the rich promises of Christ. The Lord Jesus knows that it is not possible for us to resist the many temptations of Satan, only as we shall have divine power given us from God.

Day 14 “Watch and Pray”

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." Ephesians 6:18, KJV.

Prayer and watching thereunto are necessary for advancement in the divine life.... Your only safety is to live like a watchman. Watch and pray always.

Day 15 “Gain Spiritual Strength through Prayer”

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed." Mark 1:35, NKJV.

Because the life of Jesus was a life of constant trust, sustained by continual communion, His service for heaven was without failure or faltering. Daily beset by temptation, constantly opposed by the leaders of the people, Christ knew that He must strengthen His humanity by prayer.

Day 16 “Victory through Watchfulness”

“Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation." Mark 14:38, KJV.

Temptations may be all around you, yet you are safe as long as you do not enter into them. Many of us are overcome by Satan because we walk right into temptation....

Day 17 “Heart Communion With God”

“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." Psalm 27:14, KJV.

An intensity such as never before was seen is taking possession of the world. In amusement, in moneymaking, in the contest for power, in the very struggle for existence, there is a terrible force that engrosses body and mind and soul.

Day 18 “Plead for Wisdom and Power”

“As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God." Psalm 42:1, 2, NKJV

Those who at Pentecost were endued with power from on high were not thereby freed from further temptation and trial. As they witnessed for truth and righteousness they were repeatedly assailed by the enemy of all truth, who sought to rob them of their Christian experience.

Day 19 “Humble, Persevering Prayer”

“Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit." James 5:17, 18, KJV.

Important lessons are presented to us in the experience of Elijah. When upon Mount Carmel he offered the prayer for rain, his faith was tested, but he persevered in making known his request unto God.

Day 20 “Prayer for the Sick”

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16, KJV.

Christ is the same compassionate physician now that He was during His earthly ministry. In Him there is healing balm for every disease.

Day 21 “Pray Silently, Continually”

“Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord! Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore!" 1 Chronicles 16:10, 11, NKJV.

Prayer is not understood as it should be. Our prayers are not to inform God of something He does not know. The Lord is acquainted with the secrets of every soul.

Day 22 “Wait for God’s Answer”

“It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord." Lamentations 3:26, KJV.

There are precious promises in the Scriptures to those who wait upon the Lord. We all desire an immediate answer to our prayers, and we are tempted to become discouraged if our prayer is not immediately answered.

Day 23 “Take Your Children to Jesus in Prayer”

“Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them." Matthew 19:13, NKJV.

In the days of Christ mothers brought their children to Him, that He might lay His hands upon them in blessing. By this act they showed their faith in Jesus and the intense anxiety of their hearts for the present and future welfare of the little ones committed to their care.

Day 24 “Let Us Ask of God”

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." James 1:5, KJV.

It is the privilege of every believer first to talk with God in his closet, and then as God’s mouthpiece to talk with others. In order that we may have something to impart, we must daily receive light and blessing.

Day 25 “A Prayer That Includes Us”

“Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots." Luke 23:34, NKJV.

A great multitude followed the Savior to Calvary, many mocking and deriding; but some were weeping and recounting His praise.

Day 26 “Strength Through Prayer”

“O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker." Psalm 95:6, KJV.

Christ has given His disciples assurance that special seasons for devotion are necessary. Prayer went before and sanctified every act of His ministry....

Day 27 “Asking In Christ’s Name”

“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." John 14:13, KJV.

I am so thankful that we can trust in God. And the Lord is honored when we trust in Him, bringing to Him all our perplexities....
